I get about 30-40 hours of reading time, with wireless and everything off. Make sure books are not indexing in the background, that burns up battery really fast.

The longest time I ever read on mine without a charge was when I first got it - I read 4 books (the 3 millennium books and some other decently long novel)...

Paperback versions of these books are all 500-600 pages + just so you have an idea, probably around 400 page turns each on the DX with the size 3 font.
Battery life goes by how many times you turn the page, not how long it's on. If you are a fast reader, and you turn pages quickly, then it won't last as many "hours" - average person probably reads around 300 words/minute, which is what amazon bases their lasts weeks and weeks off of (They assume you will only read 1-2 hours a day @ 300 wpm). If you read 500+wpm you could easily consume all of the battery life up in 30 hours of use.
