Me too! Absolutely brilliant writing, I think. It is my second favorite series after Harry Potter.

The same person who told me to read Philip Pullman also recommended Stephen Hunt's Court of the Air. It is hard to describe - a mix of Victorian fantasy steampunk. Lately I have been reading Michael Scott's Nicholas Flamel series about twins Josh & Sophie who discover that they are not ordinary teenagers and must learn to develop their magical powers to fulfill an ancient prophecy (what else, of course!?).

I will have to check out some of the other titles recommended in this thread. Several of them sound interesting.
