Thanks, Iridal!
I went ahead and set up my ticker then.

The main reason for keeping the two threads separate is to make sure people can find their list to edit it. If you mingle the two, the thread will become really unwieldy and no-one will be able to find their own list anymore.

I agree with two separate threads; I was merely commenting on the names of the threads, and that I thought those two by kindlekitten were going to be in addition to a general discussion thread. So, I was thinking it was suggested that we have a general discussion thread, a thread for ones we've read and a thread for ones we're reading, which seemed like two very similar threads in that regard. So only two threads instead of three seems to be what we're both saying I think?
As for thread names, I would suggest something other than "books you're reading". Not that it's terribly important but just to keep it clear and simple, because the general discussion thread will be about anything book-group related, including books others have already read (since we won't be discussing and commenting in the other thread), so "books you're reading" maybe sounds constricting. Something like "Read 100 Books in 2011! The General Discussion Thread" is a possibility.
Or, perhaps we just keep this thread as the general discussion thread and kindlekitten's "books you've read" thread as the list/review thread. But I don't want to rankle anyone! It's all just semantics, and if all of you prefer another title/thread then I'm fine with it too.
