Wow, I come back after a day and there's about 5 more pages to read!

Thanks to those who welcomed me; I'm not sure I want to join a 100 club when just reading 50 will be a challenge to me. For instance, some of you have already started and finished reading two books (by your tickers) and I'm still reading the one I started last year (that won't count)!

But I think I may be up for the challenge, if it's OK with all of you if I only go for 50.

I have read through all these pages though and thought I'd add my opinion. Like Catlady, I am confused! But, I think I may understand enough.

I'm not sure why we'd need a "books you've read" thread and also a separate "books you're reading" read. If all the same people are reading both threads, it seems unnecessary, perhaps.

I've checked out the group page and have read from your posts the limitations it presents, and why threads here may be better. If we don't get a separate subforum here, then here's what I propose (which may be what someone else has already proposed!):

We keep one thread for general discussion, such as this one, and possibly have it stickied. It will be large and unwieldy if membership stays this large, but that's OK. It's just for discussion and anyone currently participating can always go to the last pages to join in and catch up.

We have another thread for book lists, and possibly have it stickied too. Each person can have a post that they list their books in and edit it (if they want), AND/or when they start or finish a book, they can post that in this thread, possibly with their updated "read" list, and a review if they like. It's really each person's choice how they want to use this thread. It will also be large and unwieldy too, but that's OK, and we will try to limit posting in this thread to only posting when you've started/finished a book, reviews and lists, with no commenting on others' posts. If someone wants to comment on a review or list, they can in the other thread.

As for the group page, we can use it for anyone who wants their own private threads to post lists and whatnot. They can post a thread there for themselves and for anyone who may want to go and browse around. Basically, we won't use the group page because of the limitations mentioned, but someone who really wants to have their own thread (as some in this thread seem to want) can use the group page to do so in addition to using our book lists thread here (since most of us will be using the threads here).

Does that make sense? Sorry for the long post; I'm just trying to help find a good middle ground to a question with no perfect solution.
