How about we don't post in any of them and have a poll (time limited to 5 days) to see if we want the one thread or the two threads.

I see advantages and disadvantages to both. In the two threads, you can't really be doing the I've just finished reading such and such and am now reading this and that as you have to go to the other thread to post one of the other.

But with the single thread, you can post whatever it is you want be it reading or read or about what's read or being read. But then the single thread can get to be rather large.

However, I do have an idea that might work in terms of two threads. One thread like the one I started and a second thread for just the list of books read in 2011. So you go back to the list thread and edit your one post to add in what you've finished reading or ar in the process of reading.
Huh?

I still don't have a clue. Are you talking about each person having two threads? Why do I want a separate thread to list my books? Isn't that what exists now in the social group setup?

Why don't we just leave the current social group for listing the damn books and have ONE new meandering thread where, if they feel like it, people can say, Hey this book I just finished was really great/awful, or where people who've skimmed the social group list can ask about a specific book they've noticed there.

It's way too complicated, and is taking away time I could be using to read a book ...
