Call me coward, but I had very bad experiences with several firmwares from iRex (I almost sent the device to be fixed, a battery replacement).
I consider to update firmware several times but the device does all that I want and I prefer to stay with the last """"stable"""" firmware.
At the end, I will update firmware, and your FBReader port could be the guilty
