I've just replaced a screwdrivers with books in what you said about Australia.
As i understand from your post, screwdrivers are forbidden and punishable by the law, but you believe that the police and the judge will have some common sense and there will be justice, so that good man won't be checked for a screwdriver, and even if they will be, court will release them.
PS: Your nick keeps bothering me, i don't know such an English word, but there are two Russian words with such transliteration, one meaning "a cannon" and another meaning "fluffy/furry"
