"
Where are you from" implies place of origin, somewhere else. It could reasonably be interpreted to mean where have you come from, or where were you born.
"
Where you currently live now" might not make much sense if someone has more than one home in different countries, travels and divides their time between them, or is staying in a country temporarily.
If someone who was staying temporarily in country "B" during 2010, had voted, then returned home to country "A", they might now want to change their vote to update their status, because the title has since been changed to 2011.
