Hi and welcome!
I got the Kindle for several reasons. First, most of the comparison reviews for the Kindle were better, especially in terms of the battery consumption, and second, as an international user I cannot purchase Barnes and Noble books from overseas without having a US billing address. This kind of limits me to the Amazon Kindle store but I must say that I am very happy with their broad range and selection.
Lastly, I didn't like the idea of a touch screen because I am hand/eye coordination challenged. Whenever I use my father's Samsung touch screen it never wants to work for me.
