Oh yes, Cornish pasties are indeed a bit like a meat pie. They are totally encased in fairly hard pastry in a kind of half moon shape and contain meat, onion, potato and carrot I think. They're a bit dryer than a traditional meat pie though as, the legend goes, they were invented by Cornish miners (or more likely their wives) as something to put in your pocket for dinner when you were working down a mine all day.
I'll dig out a recipe (I've made them a couple of times, but not for some time now) and post it in the recipes thread some time in the next few days.
