we went for 3 years in Germany without TV. my kids were little so we were always doing things with them. the last year we got a TV and VCR but only watched 2 movies on the weekends. we were outside the Armed Forces broadcast range and couldn't get German TV so it was just the 2 hours a week

I have the radio on quite often, NPR, a local coffee house type station, or just one of the music channels on TV
