Alright, I just read up on this, and to me that's ridiculously disappointing. I can understand why they would have such a restriction naturally, but they're practicing very deceptive marketing strategies from my standpoint. The normal user would never read closely enough to even see that line on the Amazon guide, and they don't bother to ever mention it again on that page, clearly for a reason.
That puts a dampener on the site I just spent double digits of hours working on. It's definitely still a workable model, only now there needs to be an implement for 1:1 ratio sharing. Users can only borrow as many books as they've lent out, every book you borrow gives you -1 karma and every book you lend gives you +1 karma. Still effectively doubles the amount of books you can read paying the same price as before. It's a buy-one-get-one-free deal now, as opposed to a buy-a-few-get-the-rest-free deal.
Shame. Too tired to fix the system now, I'll work with it in the morning.
