Got it now. Since I'm not familiar with mac, I should guess. It is based
on bsd code and I assume it has newfs app. That command takes some
flags in the format newfs_msdos. You could read manual for newfs on
the computer, if it has it. Just be sure what is the name of sd card as
device. It should show up in dmesg at the tail. Like /dev/da1s1 or alike.

I'd wait a bit and charge it fully at home. Simply, don't do anything to
harm the new device. It has introduce settings you have to work out.

Edit: maybe mac takes command mkfs with -t flag?
