Dreams: I've been hosting these end of the year party's for several years + combined for my birthday. Always invite some bachelors over from my husbands workplace or aquaintances. Last year had four nice male bachelors; no 'free' women in sight.
Each year I have a theme, like Indonesian or Italian, Chinese and then spend two days shopping and two days cooking.
This year I've a rural theme: sauerkraut- stew and endive-stew with big bowls of gravy with meatballs and smoked sausage. On the side crispy bacon and piccalilly. Fruitsalad for dessert. Glühwein and white wine.
Coffee with cherry bonbons and a glass of cognac.
At the end of the evening champagne with oliebollen ( kind of round donuts with raisins).
We eat all evening, play silly games, drink some, eat some etc.
At three o'clock in the morning we clean up and do the dishes with some of
our guests (no dishwasher), finish up the liquor and champagne and stagger to
bed.
