It was all secure in its case and a drop destroyed the screen when it landed flat on its back.
These days I prefer to use the At-A-Glance planner cover available at quite a few retailers with my own additions. It has 1/8" thick Plexiglas with a layer of foam padding on top of that slid into each side so the foam is toward the reader. I then attach the reader to the back cover suing Command picture hanging strips (these are the same strips that many cover manufacturers use under different name such as 'click strips'). The cover zips all the way around to keep debris out while the padding should protect well against drops and the plexi will protect the screen against pressure spots and flexing. This does leave quite a bit of room around the 650 where as it was perfect when I had my nook. I recently downgraded to a smaller planner cover but I still need to reinforce the covers with plexi. I have it padded with the neoprene sleeve from one of my kids 300s double sided taped inside the front cover (with the Reader logo showing of course).
If anyone wants, I will see about taking pics later.

The cover sounds great. I'll check it out.
