Welcome to the board! I'm guessing your questions might be better received (in terms of the highest number of nook-knowledgable people reading it) on the nook board. The only think I know about rooting is that it invalidates the warranty, and right now there is some question as to whether restoring default immediately before getting servicing is acceptable as far as keeping warranty. I believe sideloading is the idea of plugging it into the computer and loading books onto the device. At least, that's the way I use it. I hope I'm not using it in error. Sideloading as opposed to downloading , which devices with wif-fi or 3G can do.
