The small logo at the left of the screen is the unlock button. You need to SLIDE this button from left to right to unlock your screen. The screen locks every time the NC goes into sleep mode so as to avoid accidental button pushes when you have your NC in your pocket or purse etc. Simply pushing the logo won't work. You have to slide it.
