A generic android tablet.
And this has been well documented since well before shipment.
From day one it was clear it was intended for users who wanted to run third party apps. (That is why Dulins books is testing apps to post at the store's website.)
And it's been clear since october/november it would ship with non-functional PB apps.

Those of us that did our homework knew exactly what we were signing up for.

And that is why the price hike is questionable: a generic 7in tablet at US$149 is competitive but at $180 it isn't.
You don't reasonably expect luxury features from a Yaris but you do from a Mini.
Conversely, you don't sell many of the former if you price it like the latter.
As consumers its our job to know which is which before opening the wallet.
And that is one of the reasons these forums exist, to help us learn what the products are like before buying.
