I use that cover (unlighted) for protection.

Shortly after getting it, I realised I prefer my Kindle to be naked while I am reading (my Kindle has yet to remark on how it prefers me), so I'm often putting the case on and taking it off.

The design means there's very little strain on the Kindle itself as the cover is removed and put on. To take it off, the upper spring-loaded hook is pushed down, then the Kindle is turned on its axis by 60 degrees, sliding out of the cover. It's not like it clips on, or anything.
