To be fair, Velocity Micro seems to be shifting to the T301 as their flagship (with an Official Kindle-preinstall, for whatever that might be worth) for $249, list. But they're getting into Best Buy and need to offer some discount margin, too.

Whatever the motivation, currency issues, market-price adjustment, etc, the move does put the IQ in a dangerous no-man's-land; neither an entry-level bargain (which even at US$149 could be justified) nor a premium-featured product. And at $180 plus shipping it starts infringing on the Pandigital 9in tablet at $199.

Everybody and their uncle is getting into android webpads; the pricing pressure is headed downwards, especially the ones pegging their fates to ebook reading.

It's odd, to say the least.
But then, doing the IQ at all was an odd move to start with.
