Thanks. I've done a diy repair job - just yanked up one corner of the S key to see if it came off (didn't) but at least now it works although the bottom left corner is now raised up at an angle so it looks weird.

Still not perfect as you have to hit it in the right spot but this laptop is really knackered - at least that's what I keep telling hubby and dropping hints about the snazzy new netbook he has
