I take advantage of tech to serve my needs, but I'd prefer non-shiny gadgets if possible.
I don't enjoy having people staring at or asking about my stuff. (I'm not rude about it; I just don't wanna be conspicuous that way, or give demos and such.) I also figure that the less shiny and coveted your stuff is, the less likely you're at risk of being a crime victim, lol.
In parts of Asia, there are plenty of people with iPads and iPhones (lots on the subway and such). I feel more comfortable using my iGadgets there than in the U.S., where I've seen fewer of 'em.
