Actually you can buy your books from anywhere that will sell them to you.

I have not purchased a book from Borders since July - the last time I paid full price. I find that Kobobooks.com is MUCH cheaper than Borders even before I use the 20% to 30% discount codes that they send me almost every week - that may vary depending on the specific books you choose however.
I have tried various other websites but there are too many geographical restrictions. Kobobooks.com only shows me the books available in Australia with prices in AUD$ which I find much easier than getting all excited about a book (I know I really need to get out more!) and then discovering after I try to buy it that I can't - with Kobobooks if you can see it you can buy it.
I have 9 books purchased from Borders which I loaded using ADE. I have now about 50 books from Kobobooks also loaded through ADE. Others prefer Calibre but as I get a lot of library books I need ADE to access them so that's what I use.
As I said I don't use either desktop app - I think they are both a bit dodgy. Infact I have only just redownloaded the Kobo app as I was thinking about doing the upgrade. I've decided to wait a bit as I've been having some issues with my computer so I removed it again.
