ipad is heavier than a dedicated ereader, but people shouldn't buy them just to use as ereaders.I guess that most of its weight is the weight of the battery.I don't think that a 2nd generation of ipads will see a lot of hadware changes. Most improvements will likely be in the software,and that's very good,because all ipads (new and old) will benefit.
