Don't take it seriously, and you'll probably love it. On a radio interview supporting its release Boone recalled a conversation he had with the late Ronnie James Dio (RIP). Boone told Dio how highly he thought of his songwriting, and Dio said that was telling because he'd actually written "Holy Diver" about Christ. Boone covered the song on the album and Dio made a guest appearance. Ritchie Blackmore did likewise on "Smoke On The Water".
If you think of it as absurdist humor it's pretty good. I always thought "Enter Sandman" was cheesy no matter who did it (including Metallica--the original artists, for those who don't know) so it's not like Boone could make it any worse. The others...well, I was always a Monty Python fan so this is right up there.
