Well to be fair (sort of) there were ereaders available in Australia and in true Aussie fashion they were over $500 to purchase.

That's a lot of hard earned cash for a single purpose gadget.

Kobo started the trend being the first affordable ereader device available over the counter at brick and mortar bookshops.
