The way Kobo staff explained it to the beta group, the updates on the WiFi worked so well that they missed some of the things that could be different for this one. All the folks that have original Kobo's under the tree will do just fine with the update the way it is--those of us with our Kobos loaded up with all manor of things, not so well without additional steps.
It was definitely a learning process for the development team--and I am betting that next time they will have the beta testers more involved with testing the real world installation. We only tested with SD card images this go 'round.
