Yes, thanks, taming, I had read your note before proceeding. But I followed the Kobo info as presented. I went to the Kobo Desktop and the first thing it said was "time for an upgrade!" and I followed its steps. My point was the Kobo process may need to make this "reset" mandatory. But maybe not ... in my case it was.
I'm also not sure when the sqlite replacement is needed or what triggers that. I have DRM epubs from library books, and non-DRM epubs from other sources on the Kobo, in addition to non-epubs DRM books from Kobobooks loaded directly through the Kobo desktop sync process. The library books appeared on the books list but wouldn't open; non-epub kobobooks were fine. That's when I decided to replace the sqlite db. They showed up but until the factory reset, I couldn't read them.
I think I'm rambling now. Good news is my OK (Original Kobo) is OK now.
