When I originally bought the original Kobo, I believed I was buying an e-reader. I knew there was no dictionary, nor wireless, and a bunch of other things, because it didn't say it had those things in the advertising I read. I knew, when I purchased it, that it was a no frills e-reader, and that's what I got. The only real reason I returned it because I got one with a defective battery, and since the Wifi version was announced on the same day ( I found out before the purchase), I decided to wait to get a new one.

I know from reading this forum, that some extra features were said to come in the way of updates. If you based your purchase decisions on the assumption that those updates would come to fruition, then that's your problem. I've been in the IT field long enough to know that if I'm going to purchase things with the hopes that additional features are going to come as laid out, I'm sure to be disapointed more often than not because as firmware development goes on, features are dropped/replaced/added to due to time, hardware limitations, budget constraints as well as belief that perhaps the finished feature will not live up to the expectations believed to be held by the clients. Feature additions also innevitably get delayed due to the same reasons.

Lastly, the box or advertisements never said that the device was upgradeable. Making an assumption that it was is stupid.

cheers!
