I must say that there is some advantage to living in the deep South when it comes to that sort of thing. Very rarely does somebody go through a door without holding it for the next person, and very rarely do you see an able-bodied person refuse to give up their seat to someone less able, at least in my community. Now since this is a pretty high-crime area, that same person may mug you once you get out the door, but by golly he will carry the box for you first, and hold the door until you are through it!  Mamas and grandmamas take a hard line on the courtesy thing here. I hope your back gets better soon, and that the tool chest is much appreciated on Christmas morning! |
Thanks Betty, even though it hurts to laugh! He damn well better appreciate it or I'll throw it off the balcony, even if it tears every muscle in back.
