I have tried to read manga on the 505 but the screen is way too small (unless you only want to watch the nice drawings =P) and landscape view is not really an answer for that.

As for the ipad, first, I'm not a mac fan, I use windows at work and at home and I don't see it changing in the future... so, now: Manga in the ipad is awesome and (with Cloudreaders) works like a charm. I guess this is the closest (or farther) you can get to/from a tankoubon. Resolution is obviously better than the printed version (due to editors cleaning the scans) and the page transition is super fast. And the size is perfect and you can download directly to it and transfer to your computer afterwards. For me... the way to go.
