My mistake the K1 uses a different plugin than 2 and 3. You should be seeing 3 plugins for the Kindle: "Kindle Device Interface", "Kindle 2/3 Device Interface", and "Kindle DX Device Interface"

Disabling "Kindle 2/3 Device Interface" should only disable finding the Kinndle 2 and 3. Leave "Kindle 2/3 Device Interface" enabled to have it find the Kindle 1.
