I was at an academic conference last month, using my Kindle to display notes for my talk. I was clearly an early adopter on that, though many smartphones used to similar effect. One person saw me with it and immediately started telling me how she used it for grading papers, reading pdfs, etc. -- same thing I got it for.
I've been looking at the Kindle for a while waiting for the technology to catch up to what I wanted it for: personal documents, ability to annotate, easy on the eyes, cheap, low power use. The K3 is there, barely. But I am thrilled with it so far. A colleague was skeptical thinking that I wanted to use it way outside its capacity, but seeing how others here on these forums have hacked it, I know I am just pushing Amazon's envelope, not the Kindle.
By the way -- why is there no alarm clock!? Seems like such a simple thing...
