The only way to get uncompressed HD digital feed for your TV is from Over The Air with an antenna. Even Blu rays are compressed.
Regardless, the point remains that there are some video/audio feeds that are best displayed via HDMI. There is no such comparable analogy with wi-fi vs. USB on an e-ink reader.
