As per your requirement, the Calibre has been fixed.
I am afraid your system is severely misconfigured. But do not fear, we are here to help you.
When you install the Calibre for the first time, and you attempt to delete a book for the first time, a dialog panel will appear: The selected books will be
permanently deleted and the files removed from your system, do you wish to continue?
At the bottom of this dialog panel there is checkbox, with option "Show this warning again". Your cat must have stepped on alt_S (after it stepped on Del and before it stepped on enter) and removed the check. Clever cat.
The situation is very easy to remedy. Go to preferences, Click on Behavior, and click on "Reset all disabled confirmation dialogs"
