Clearly I'm not the only one who doesn't like the way Sony chose to implement this.
I see two possible solutions:
1) A setting that could be selected by the user, whether or not to show the mini-dictionary or just jump to the full dictionary when double-tapping a word.
or
2) Simply allow users to change the font size within the mini-dictionary window.
Either of those would be as good or better for everyone than the current design, with no downside.
