I had this happen a couple of weeks ago. The guy at the library had to act as an intermediary with Overdrive, which doesn't deal with the public directly. A day or so later he emailed me a copy of Overdrive's response to the extent that they will be removing the item from their system, contacting the publisher, and re-loading the correct book when they get it. Would I (your patron) like to be placed (at the top of) the hold queue when that happens? I replied "Yes, thank you"; that was forwarded to Overdrive, the book disappeared from My Items Out a day after that ... and I'm still waiting for the original book.
