In an ideal world it would be great to have either an Amazon device which works with drm epubs OR a non-Amazon device which also works with drm Kindle files.

Luckily the price of e-ink devices now means that many people can afford to purchase 2 different readers - especially when you think back to the original price of Kindles 1 & 2.

It isn't a perfect solution and not particularly practical for the casual reader but it works and avoids the moral/legal issues people have with drm.
