There are some public schools here in Florida that are now giving each student their own Kindle. They come pre-loaded with tons of classics, required reading, and some text books. Unfortunately, this program hasn't made it to our county yet.

My youngest son got an iPod touch for Christmas last year and hasn't put it down yet. Even so, I don't think he has even added the Kindle app. It is a rather small screen to read an entire book on. He may be getting a Kindle for Christmas. I am trying to make a decision on it by the end of the week. My other kids are grown and several of them are Kindle owners.

For my grandsons I have looked at the Vtech VReader. It is really nice and Walmart has it bundled with a carrying case and 6 download books for $50. My confusion is that all the other books seem to be in cartridge form, selling for $20 each. I need to do a bit more research to see if other books can be downloaded cheaper.
