If you can find them in audiobook format, this great series is even better. Zelazny himself read them, and he had a storyteller's gift.

I've told this story before, and here it goes again. When Tim and I were dating and first married, we were dirt poor. For romantic evenings, we would pack a few snacks, his telescope, and the Amber cassettes that we borrowed from the library. We would drive out to the country away from city lights and stargaze while listening to books. Especially Amber. So anytime I'm reminded of the series, I get the warm nostalgic fuzzes.
