(Wrote this some time back, when I was on a poetry kick, one of my favorites of my own devising, presented here if only for amusement for you.)
"The Ballad of the Glassteel Heart"
Ever 'oer the land did wander, a slayer with a heart a-sunder.
Seeking beloved whose eyes alight, the burning soul of this lost knight.
Shadow long in the field of woe.
Seeking ends for his heart-broke, feeling hope and love choke.
'e spied a maiden surpassingly fair, asleep in the glade he wandered there.
Shadows soften in the burning glow.
The name of Sharawynn rose to his lips, entranced by her beauty and those hips.
From gloomy tangle he did emerge, and in her light his soul did purge.
Shadows retreat she awakens now.
The secrets of their desire lay bare, uncovered to all without a care.
A blazing love more glorious then gold, their sacrifices yet untold.
Shadows cower away so slow.
His flesh a sword, her heart his hoard.
Undying adventurers of devotion, lovers enslaved as if by potion.
Shadows vanish they speak their vow.
