*I even sometimes buy MYSELF Amazon gift cards so that I can credit them to my account and be able to buy books on the fly without racking up all those little credit card transactions.

Too right about them cards. I always get such a luxurious feeling when I have some cards to spend.
But lately I've been putting my extra- or gift money in this special envelope. Somehow it gives me a good feeling when I count my money.
