There are now plug-ins for Calibre that strip the DRM when the ebook is imported into Calibre. The stand alone tools for DRM stripping are also still available, but if you are using Calibre the plug-ins are generally the best approach.

It is probably not illegal in the US to strip DRM from ebooks you bought in order to read them on a device you own, see DRM: What did you buy? (An Essay.).
