I'm pretty sure with the latest official firmware it does do epub and pdf.
I run OpenInkpot on mine which definitely reads epub and pdf though you have to strip any DRM. PDF is a bit pointless on a 5" device in my opinion though.
Not a bad little reader, it's served me well over the last year or so. I mainly got it to run OpenInkpot though so I can't comment too much on the official firmware.
