What a confusing thread LOL
Here's what I did when I wanted to get a Kindle for my wife for Christmas...
- Went to amazon.com to try to purchase - would have been about 10 weeks for delivery!
- Decided not to go that route since it wouldn't be under the tree!
- Logged in to eBay and found a reputable US seller, asked a few questions about delivery, etc.
- Bought the US Kindle 3 (Wi-Fi only) from the eBay seller.
- Two days later Fed Ex delivered it to my door with no brokerage, customs or HST fees!
So, all was good...I wanted to charge it up and make sure everything was fine before wrapping it up, so I plugged it in, got it connected to my home WiFi router and set it up with my amazon.ca login, etc. Everything worked perfectly so far.
But it looked empty
So I thought, well, let's see how much problem we have in Canada purchasing a book...I search (very easily I might add) for "Nora Roberts" (her favourite author) and I effortlessly purchased
The Bride's Quartet for her (a recent four-book set by Nora that was on my wife's Christmas list)!
All in all, I would say that the Kindle was definitely the way to go...no hassles with the above book purchases, or with registering the device at all!
I'm assuming the confusion lies in the devices that have the 3G capabilities...?
