Amazon explicitly allows DRM-free MOBI.

Note that if a DRM-ridden MOBI is stripped of its encryption, to produce a DRM-free version, it is still easily identifiable as an ebook that "should" have DRM (e.g. based on its source, which is in the metadata). Amazon does not check this, and I have seen no reports of Amazon ever doing anything to DRM-free MOBIs on a Kindle no matter where they came from.
