Bob couldn't you have forced the rep to stay longer with you on the phone and to reveal more info on a new Toshiba PDA?
J/k. I think you should wait a bit longer, and see what the Palm-Linux combination will bring. Especially now that you get your broken Toshiba unit replaced for free (that is a great service!).
