Ohh - this used to be one of my favorite genres.

"Where Late The Sweet Birds Sang: A Novel" by Kate Wilhelm

"Emergence" by David Palmer. He recently wrote a sequel (listed at $40 on Amazon) but I have not picked it up yet.

"Earth abides" by George R Stewart

Fred Saberhagen had a book that start out fantasy but the main characters flee from the current evil government and discover underground tech and it becomes post-apocalyptic. But I cannot remember the name. (Tank vs mounted knights, castles and sorcery - fun stuff).

James Axler has the "Deathlands" series about a group of survivors who travel around a shattered earth through transportation gates and have adventures. I think there are 20+ different books in the series.

"The Postman" by David Brin was actually a great book before the Kevin Costner movie ruined its reputation. Like Shakespear in Klingon -the original is better.

(You can just search for "post-apocalyptic fiction" in Amazon)
