Now, if you like Graphic Novels you should check the Kindle DX or an iPAD. Kindle DX is big enough to read those kind of documents without causing eye strain but it's black and white only. iPAD would be nice but I would not use an iPAD for long reading sessions, besides is heavier and battery does not last longer than Kindle.
For you, I would recommend Kindle DX and iPAD as second option.

Yeah but the iPad costs quite a bit more than the Nook Color. If he mainly wants a reader, the NC or a cheaper tablet would be best. I personally would not be happy with a KDX for a GN (unless it's b&w, but I think I would find the touch screen better for viewing them). Colour is the way to go, plus they (Nook Color and tablets) read pdf's better (at least that is what I have read in reviews).
I LOVE e-ink, and wouldn't want or need a lcd reader because I find e-ink a much better read, but if I wanted to read GN on my reader I would get a Nook Color. As of right now I read novels on my Nook and GN on my laptop.
