although still officially closed, the village road is now passable. sometime during the night the wind changed to a less cold one, and we are experiencing a slow thaw.
where I've kept the depth of snow on the track to a minimum, I can already see the surface; not so the rest of the private road which wasn't cleared by neighbours - that's a solid surface of compacted and slippery snow.
